Now in its ninth year, Culture Night Belfast 2017 is promising to be the biggest and best yet. It is thought that up to 100,000 people could attend over 300 free events in the city. Clifton House is delighted to be taking part this year with a programme of events which embraces the historic importance of the house and the people connected with it.
At 3.00pm we will start with a tour of Clifton House, which captures where the story of Belfast begins. Visitors are brought back to a time where Belfast had a population of 8,500 people and just five streets. We follow this with a tour of Clifton Street Cemetery at 4.00pm. This tour will show visitors both the merchant princes and paupers of Belfast and the historical significance of this unknown cemetery. Our final event for Culture Night invites visitors to Clifton House at 5.00pm to enjoy the harp music which would have been played and celebrated at Belfast’s Harp Festival in 1792.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to Clifton House as part of this tremendous programme for Belfast.
