Today marks the beginning of a two day conference held by the Association of Charitable Foundations (ACFNI) at Clifton House, the home of Belfast’s oldest charity – the Belfast Charitable Society.  The Society celebrated it’s 265th Anniversary in August and are delighted to be a part of this important conference which looks at how funders will shape the future of the Voluntary, Charitable and Social Enterprise sectors (VCSE).

This morning began with a walking tour of North Belfast, led by the CEO of Belfast Charitable Society, Paula Reynolds and Janice Beggs.  The conference organisers wished to demonstrate the positive signs and changes taking place in an area which has been blighted by conflict.

The conference will continue today and tomorrow exploring the socio-economic and political context for funders in Northern Ireland as well as examining how to build a resilient VCSE sector, promoting civic engagement and discussing how to strengthen the voice of the sector.
