Belfast Charitable Society, owners of Clifton House Residential Home, need your help !

Whilst archiving historic documents, staff of the Society uncovered twenty seven paintings of former residents of Clifton Residential Home and wish to return them to their families.

It is believed the paintings were painted between 1940 – 1980 by the well-known, respected artist and former President of the Belfast Charitable Society Thomas Everard Spence. These paintings were on display in the Home until the refurbishment of the buildings in 2003 when the they were removed for safe storage. The Society now feels that they should be returned to the families of the residents – if they can trace them.

It is very likely that the residents in the paintings will have since passed away and records of their family members are unfortunately no longer available.
Do you know someone who was a resident in the Home between 1940 and 1980 ?  To see all of the paintings check out our Facebook page to see all the portraits and help us to unite them with their families.
